Baker girls fall at Burns
By Gerry Steele
Baker played well, but not quite well enough Saturday, dropping a 47-40 nonleague girls basketball game at Burns.
“It was a great effort,” said Baker coach Jenny Mowe-Joseph.
“The girls played excellent defense against their best players.”
Offensively, Brie Sand led the Bulldogs with 20 points and six rebounds.
“That was very exciting to see Brie break out like that,” Mowe-Joseph said.
Summer Phillips had two points and eight rebounds, Allie Brown a point and two rebounds, Emiy Tatlock six points and two rebounds, Erin Bachman two points and a rebound, Whitney Lemmon two points and three rebounds, Michelle Freese a point and two rebounds, Michelle Lehman four points and two rebounds, and Grace Huggins two steals.
Baker shot 17-of-44 frm the field and 5-of-17 from the free throw line.
“Our free throw shooting killed us,” Mowe-Joseph said.
Baker opens Greater Oregon League play Tuesday at Ontario then hosts La Grande Friday.
