Baker girls lose at Fruitland

What a difference a day makes.

At least that’s what Baker girls basketball coach Tim Smith said after the Bulldogs lost 44-33 at Fruitland, Idaho, Wednesday.

Baker played poorly in a loss to Weiser at BHS Tuesday. But, Smith said, despite the loss at Fruitland, the Bulldogs played better Wednesday.

“The girls played much better today,” Smith said. “We outrebounded them. Our defense played a much better game. We just didn’t shoot the ball well enough.”

Baker shot just 25 percent from the field against the Grizzlies.

“It was a good game. We had a lot of positives,” Smith said. “The girls played with much more intensity. I thought the effort was really good.”

Mackenzie Warner led the Bulldogs with 10 points.

Baker travels to John Day Tuesday to meet Grant Union.
