Baker girls lose at Weiser

Weiser pulled away in the fourth quarter Saturday to hand Baker a 67-44 loss in a non-league girls basketball game at Weiser, Idaho.

Baker managed to stay close to the Wolverines through three quarters, but then got outscored 24-7 in the fourth quarter.

“We came out and played pretty well,” said Baker coach Tim Smith.

“Then we got into some foul trouble and lost our defensive intensity in the second quarter. That took us out of our rotation.”

Weiser also was 22 of 32 from the free throw line.

“Any time you send a team to the free throw line 32 times you’re not going to win,” Smith said.

Baker also had more than 20 turnovers, and shot just 13-of-57 from the field.

“We didn’t play up to our potential. We’re not playing an entire game,” Smith said.

Mackenzie Warner led Baker with 18 points before fouling out in the fourth quarter.

Baker (0-5) hosts Weiser Dec. 29.
