Freshman Maggie Harlow scored four goals to lead Baker to an 8-0 Special District 7 girls soccer win over Umatilla Saturday at the Baker Sports Complex.

Harlow scored her goals on seven shots. She also added an assist.

Dallas Defrees chipped in two goals and two assists. Callie Baxter and Mackenzie Warner each added a goal.

“The girls played a good game,” said Baker coach DeeDee Clarke. “They were passing well and moving well.”

Clarke said the team had had a good week despite learning that senior Julia Vaughan has been lost for the season after suffering a torn ACL in her knee two games earlier.

“It’s been a good week,” Clarke said. “The girls have been up, and have been working hard. Whether it’s for Julia, or for themselves, they’ve decided to go for the district title.”

Baker dominated the young Vikings all afternoon Saturday.

“We played very aggressive. We controlled the ball in their side of the field most of the afternoon,” Clarke said.

The Baker coach said she was able to play several of her junior varsity players in the game as well.

Keeper Kristen Hoopes had to make just three saves on the afternoon.

Baker’s JV squad also shut out Umatilla, winning 10-0 in a game that was called by the mercy rule early in the second half.

Shasta Overton led Baker with four goals, all in the first half.

Marissa Ermovich added three goals, all off assists from Aubree Shepherd. Katherine Gilsdorf, Jasmine McCauley and Audrey Kirby each added single goals.

Keeper Kat Killmaster made one save.

Baker travels to Pendleton Tuesday, then visits Mac-Hi Saturday.
