Baker golfers to state

The Baker girls team and two Baker boys will travel to the west side of the state Monday and Tuesday to compete at state golf tournaments.

The Baker girls — Kindra Smith, Tayler Wood, Mackenzie Warner, Maggie Harlow, Hallie Borgen, and Morgan Ward — qualified for the Class 4A/3A/2A/1A state tournament at Eagle Crest Ridge Course in Redmond.

Baker finished second at the Special District 7 tournament earlier this week at Wildhorse Resort.

Baker’s Dru Simonski-Davis and Pat Vaughan qualified for the Class 4A/3A/2A/1A state boys tournament after advancing from the Greater Oregon League district tournament at Wildhorse.

The Class 4A/3A/2A/1A boys tournament will be played at Quail Valley Golf Course in Banks.

Team scores — Ontario 860, Baker 872, Heppner 890, La Grande 914, Burns 1,044, Nyssa 1,054, Mac-Hi 1,091.

Baker scores — Smith 98-106-204, Wood 108-118-226, Warner 107-123-230, Harlow 107-114-221, Borgen 123-xx-123, Ward xxx-114-114.
