Baker loses volleyball opener

FRUITLAND — Baker lost its non-league volleyball opener Thursday at Fruitland, Idaho, 25-11, 25-13, 25-15.

“Fruitland is a good offensive team and we did not pass well,” said Baker coach Michele McCauley.

“We gave them too many opportunities to run their offense. It gave us an opportunity to confirm what we need to work on to improve.”

Michelle Freese was 10-for-10 serving with three aces for the Bulldogs. Monica Voboril was 10-of-11 hitting, and Abi Smith 5-for-5 hitting.

Baker won the frosh/soph match 25-21, 25-23, 15-10.

Hope Collard was 13-for-13 serving with eight aces and six kills. Summer Phillips had five digs. Kylie Skidgel was 15-for-15 serving with two aces. Jennifer Hibbard was 6-for-6 serving, and Amy Wong 14-of-16 setting.
