Baker players receive state honors

ROSEBURG — Three members of the Baker High School baseball team have been selected to participate in the Sterling Savings Class 4A Baseball All-Star Series June 19-20 at Legion Field in Roseburg.

Baker seniors Derek Blankenship and Matt Gorrell have been selected to play for the South squad. Baker coach Dan Blankenship will coach the South.

The teams will play a single 9-inning game starting at 7 p.m. Saturday, and two seven-inning games beginning at noon Sunday.

Blankenship and Gorrell also joined two other Bulldogs selected to the Class 4A all-state baseball teams.

Blankenship was named as a first-team infielder.

Ty Everson was named as a second-team infielder.

Gorrell received honorable mention at catcher, and Trace Richardson honorable mention in the outfield.
