Baker quartet of riders heads to state

State high school finals rodeo is June 16-19 at Crook County Arena

PRINEVILLE — Four members of the Baker High School rodeo  team will advance to the State Finals Rodeo June 16-19 at Crook County Arena in Prineville.

Juniors Dylan Glock, Johnny Owens and Nick Xeros, and freshman Wyatt Cook have qualified for the state rodeo. Glock and Cook in saddle bronc, Owens in bull riding, and Xeros in team roping.

The top 20 individuals in each event, and top 20 teams in team roping qualify for the state rodeo.

Cutting competition begins at 10 a.m. June 16. The cutting finals begin at 9 a.m. June 17.

The first rodeo action is at 6 p.m. June 17. The second go is at 6 p.m. June 18, and the short go at noon June 19.

At the Baker rodeos held Memorial Day Weekend, Xeros placed fourth in team roping the first day (9.13) and seventh the second day (9.88).

Also on Day 2, Glock was third in saddle bronc (62), and Owens third in bull riding (70).

In the season standings through June 3, Owens is ranked fourth in bulls, Cook ninth in saddle bronc, and Glock 10th in saddle bronc. Xeros was ranked 31st in team roping.
