The team lists just one senior: Nicole Markgraf who will compete in goat tying and breakaway roping. • Juniors — Cole Owens, team roping; Ashlyn Gazely, goat tying. • Sophomores — Landen Cosby, barrel racing and goat tying; Lillian “Tag’ Wood, goat tying and barrel racing; Chris Patrick, bareback riding and bull riding; Johnny Owens, bull riding; Nick Xeros, team roping; and Dylan Glock, bull riding. • Freshmen — Tyrel Ranlin, bull riding; Mike McGinn, saddle bronc, team roping, bulldogging. Benny Ruda is head coach. His assistants are Camie Painter (barrels and goats), Joe Painter (roping), Lance and Kadie Cosby (advisers), and J.C. Harmon (rough stock coach). The team is planning two fund-raisers this spring. The first, on April 18, will be a pop can drive. The second, May 2, will be a Krispy Kreme doughnut sale from 7 a.m. to noon (or until their sold out) at the corner of Campbell and Grove streets. The money raised will be used to help pay entry fees at the events, said Kadie Cosby. She said the club tries to pay one entry fee per student during the season, and helps with travel expenses to any of the finals rodeos. Baker will host a two-day rodeo May 24-25 at the Oregon Trail Events Center. The rodeo will begin at 9 a.m. each day. Admission is $5. There will be a concession stand on site. A Cowboy church service is planned at 6 p.m. Sunday. |
