Baker’s boys and girls cross country teams each placed second Saturday at the Dry Side Shoot Out meet at Eastern Oregon University in La Grande. Baker coach Tish Bloomer was pleased with the results despite some runners missing the meet due to SAT tests, illness and injuries. “We ran really well Thursday at Ontario, but I think we were a little tired today,” Bloomer said. Baker also placed second at the Ontario meet. Melissa Clarke, Baker’s Homecoming queen, won the girls race at La Grande in a time of 13:10.86. Charlotte Bowers was seventh, Ellen Jampolsky 10th, Kate Sizer 11th, Hazel Hansen 12th, Laura Borgen 13th, Courtney Petry 14th and Anna Clarke 15th. Trevor Freese was the top Baker boys finisher, taking sixth with a time of 10:56.89. Joe Anderson was seventh, Skyler Young 13th, Jacob Baxter 15th, Jesse Freeman 16th, Mark Voboril 17th, Connor Yates 18th, Luke Emery 21st, Nathan Payton 22nd, Ben Frix 23rd, Ivan Hansen 24th, Jesse Rayborn 27th and Cameron McAlister 28th. Baker’s next action is Friday at Mac-Hi.
