Baker's dozen heads to 4A track

ONTARIO — A dozen Baker track and field athletes qualified for this weekend’s Class 4A state meet by placing first or second in their events Saturday at the Greater Oregon League district meet at Ontario. The Bulldogs earned four first-place awards, two by Haley Adams. Adams won the girls javelin with a throw of 109 feet, 2 inches, and the girls pole vault with a vault of 7 feet. Walker Kaseberg won the boys high jump with a leap of 6 feet, 2 inches. Hannah Prince won the girls 100 with a 13.34 clocking. Second-place Bulldogs also advancing to state were Whitney Phillips in the girls 400 (1:02.45), Kelsey Cole in the girls 800 (2:34.33), Prince in the girls 200 (27.64), Melissa Clarke in the girls 3,000 (12:00.31) and girls 1,500 (5:23.58), Jake Eastland in the boys pole vault (12 feet, 6 inches), Tori Wirth in the girls shot (29 feet, 9 inches), Felicia Schneider in the girls triple jump (31 feet, 2 inches), and the boys 4x100 relay of Luke Austin, Kaseberg, Rowdy LaMiller, B.J. Quintana and Eastland (45.61). Competition will get under way at 10 a.m. both Friday and Saturday at Hayward Field on the University of Oregon campus in Eugene. The 4A meet will be run in conjunction with the 6A and 5A meets. General admission tickets are $8 adults and $5 students each day. A two-day pass is available for $15 adults and $9 students. Reserve parking permits are available for $5. Ticket booths open at 9 a.m. daily. |
