Baker softball all-stars travel to Athena

ATHENA — Baker will send two all-star softball teams to the district tournament July 4 through 11 at Athena.

Baker’s 11-12-year-olds are coached by Jamey Hardy and Kelly Cahill.

Team members are Mychalea Osborn, Gracie Hardy, Kayla Davis, Carley Johnson, Jami Pallan, Stephanie Soliz, Jennifer Hibbard, McKenzie Roseborough and Annie Cahill.

Baker’s 9-10-year-olds are coached by Kelly and Christena Cook.

Team members are Makayla Bork, Molly McCrary, Morgan Plumbtree, Kailey Dolby, Savanah Stephens, Tori Camp, Jillian Hawkins, Ashlee Brinton, Nicole Parsons, Ashley Whiting, Gussie Cook and Gracie McCarrell.

Pool play runs July 4 through July 7. Bracket semifinals are July 8, and the championship games July 9.

Baker’s 11-12-year-olds play La Grande Saturday at 9 a.m. Baker will play Union County Monday at 4:30 p.m. and Milton-Freewater Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. Baker’s game with Triangle has to be rescheduled, possibly for Monday.

Baker’s 9-10-year-olds open play Sunday against Milton-Freewater at 9:30 a.m. Baker plays La Grande at 2:30 p.m. Monday, and Pendleton at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Winners advance to the state tournament planned later this month in Baker City.
