A young Baker softball team gained more than its share of experience Monday and Tuesday, playing four games at a tournament at the Baker Sports Complex.

The four games completed a seven-game-in-five-day stretch to start Baker’s season.

Baker (2-5 overall) finished the tournament 1-3. The Bulldogs lost 7-4 to Caldwell and 17-9 to Parma on Monday. Baker then lost 8-3 to Weiser before defeating Payette 9-3 Tuesday.

Against Caldwell, Sierra Koehler’s RBI single scored Baker’s only run until the seventh inning.

In the seventh, Julianne Delatorre drove in two runs with a single, and Kayla Davis added an RBI hit.

Morgan Plumbtree was the losing pitcher.

Against Parma, Davis, Plumbtree and Molly McCrary each had a pair of hits for the Bulldogs.

Davis and McCrary each drove in two runs.

Koehler was the losing pitcher.

Baker scored seven of its runs in the first inning.

Davis had a two-run double, and McCrary a two-run single in the inning.

Dani McCauley and Plumbtree each added RBI singles. Delatorre drove in a run when she was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded.

Tuesday, against Weiser, Baker again scored all of its runs in the first inning.

With one out, McCauley and Koehler both were hit by pitches. Both later scored on a single by Lakalyn Thomas.

Plumbtree took the loss in the circle.
