Baker softball wins 12-0

Darryn McCauley and Mackenzie Srack’s teammates supplied a lot more runs than the pair of pitchers needed.

One run, as it turned out, would have been plenty.

And Baker’s Sierra Howerton got that run with a leadoff homer.

McCauley and Srack combined on a three-hitter, and the Bulldogs beat Weiser 12-0 in a non-league softball game Tuesday afternoon at the Baker Sports Complex.

“Good pitching, good hitting and solid defense,” was Baker Coach Alan McCauley’s assessment of the game, which ended after five innings due to the 10-run mercy rule.

Srack ended the game in style, striking out the side in the last inning.

The win improved Baker’s record to 7-2. Baker also won the JV game, 8-4.

The Bulldogs play host to La Grande in a doubleheader Friday at 2 p.m.
