Baker exploded out of the gate against Weiser, Idaho, Thursday, hammering 17 hits on the way to an 18-2 non-league softball win at Weiser. With the score knotted at 1-1, Baker erupted for nine runs in the top of the second inning. Tori Brown, who finished with four RBIs, led the way with a two-run home run. Morgan Johnson and Mackenzie Srack each added two-run singles. Darryn McCauley had a run-scoring double, and Aubree Shepherd and Sierra Howerton RBI singles. Brown added an RBI double in a three-run third inning. McCauley chipped in a run-scoring single. Laura Wilson plated another run with a ground out. Baker put the game away in the fifth with five more runs. Wilson led the way with a two-run single. Danielle Freese added an RBI double, and Srack an RBI single. Brown, McCauley and Srack each finished with three hits. Johnson and Jessi Stephens each added two. Brown had four RBIs, Wilson three, Srack three, McCauley two and Johnson two. Brown picked up the win in the circle, pitching the first four innings. Brown struck out six and allowed three hits. Srack pitched the fifth, allowing two hits. Baker (1-0) travels to a tournament in Boise Friday and Saturday.
