Baker spikers win consolation

HERMISTON — Baker came away with the consolation title at the Hermiston Labor Day volleyball tournament Saturday.

In pool play, the Bulldogs split with Hermiston 16-25, 25-17, lost to La Grande 25-12, 25-16, and split with Sunridge of Richland, Wash., 25-15, 17-25.

In consolation bracket play, Baker topped Burns 25-18, 20-25, 15-11, then defeated Weston-McEwen 11-25, 25-17, 15-12.

Baker coach Michele McCauley did not have any statistics for the afternoon, but said the Bulldogs improved throughout the afternoon, especially defensively.

Baker hosts Weiser Tuesday at 4 p.m.
