Baker track at Buck Classic

PENDLETON — Baker opened its season Thursday at the annual Buck Classic track and field meet at Pendleton High School.

The annual meet is a non-scoring meet. Participating teams were Baker, Pendleton, Echo, Joseph, Heppner, Pilot Rock, Union, Riverside, La Grande, Ontario, Mac-Hi, Hermiston and Walla Walla Valley.

Baker competitors earned four second-place finishes.

Jake Eastland earned two of those, in the boys javelin (161 feet, 9 inches) and the boys pole vault (11 feet).

Haley Adams was second in the girls pole vault (7 feet, 6 inches).

The boys 4x100 relay team of Tyler Sorensen, Mitko Smith, Luke Austin and Stephen Brock also was second with a time of 43.45.
