Baker trio to Silver State rodeo

Three Baker High School riders advanced to the Silver States Rodeo next month after finishing in the Top 10 of their events at the Oregon State High School Finals Rodeo Saturday at Prineville.

According to adviser Kadie Cosby, Dylan Glock advances after tying teammate Mike McGinn for fifth in saddle bronc riding. Glock also advances in bull riding.

Johnny Owens advances in bulls as well.

McGinn placed 17th in steer wrestling atthe state rodeo, but will not advance.

Nicole Markgraf finished 17th in goat tying at the state rodeo and also won’t advance.

Tayler Kerns, an independent rider from Baker City, placed 10th in tie-down roping and qualified for the Silver State rodeo.

The Silver State Rodeo will be held July 4-9 at Fallon, Nev.

The BHS riders were sponsored Old West Federal Credit Union, Haines Fourth of July Stampede, Sterling Savings Bank, Oregon Trail Bullet, Radford Trucking, Beef Northwest, Baker Elks Bull and Bronc Blowout and Roper Apparel and Footwear.
