Baker wins first state football title

The Baker Bulldogs have won their first OSAA state football championship, beating Douglas 34-20 this afternoon at Hillsboro Stadium.

Baker led 28-20 late in the final quarter when quarterback Jesse Brown ran in for a touchdown to give the Bulldogs a 34-20 lead with 2:24 left in the game.

Baker recovered a fumble on the ensuing kickoff, and the Bulldogs, after moving the ball inside the Douglas 10, ran the clock out.

Baker finished the season with a 12-1 record, a school-record for wins.
