Baker wrestlers 19th at state

PORTLAND — Two Baker wrestlers placed in the top six of their weight divisions Saturday at the Class 4A state wrestling tournament at Memorial Coliseum.

Anthony Constantine placed fourth at 152 pounds, and Andrew Porter sixth at 130 pounds.

Constantine earned a 10-5 decision over fourth seed Tucker Cook of Tillamook to advance to the semifinals.

There he lost by fall to top-seeded Brady Lee of Molalla.

In consolation action, Constantine defeated sixth seed Emmet Hettum of Phoenix 3-2. Then, in the match for third and fourth, he lost by fall to Tyson Dahl of Douglas.

Porter, in consolation action, defeated Seth Sotelo of Hidden Valley 9-0 and Kyle Deming of North Bend 13-1 before losing 9-7 in overtime to fourth seed Trinity Castner of Douglas.

Porter then lost 9-1 in the match for fifth and sixth to Jordan Smith of Scappoose.

Three other Bulldogs also wrestled Saturday.

Drew Stanley (145) lost by pin to top seed Cody Randall of North Marion in the quarterfinals. Stanley then lost by fall to Matt Coultes of Hidden Valley.

Sam Pearson (145) lost 5-1 to Josh Dozier of Cascade.

Jake Shukle (215) lost 8-7 to Sonny Tupua of Siuslaw, and lost 4-2 to fourth seed Grant Thompson of Cottage Grove.

Baker finished 19th in the team standings with 42 points. Scappoose won the team title with 195 points. Mac-Hi was sixth (115.5), Ontario eighth (98.5) and La Grande 18th (42.5).
