Baker tuned up for the post season Friday by pummeling La Grande 70-6 in the Greater Oregon League football finale for both teams.

The GOL-champion Bulldogs (3-0 in the GOL and 7-1 overall) amassed 508 total yards while holding La Grande to just 94 in the game at Community Stadium at La Grande.

La Grande (0-3 in the GOL and 0-8 overall) had just 10 yards other than the 84 on Ryan Ross’s second-half touchdown run against Baker’s reserves.

Baker’s defense forced four La Grande turnovers — two fumbles and two interceptions.

Baker quarterback BradenPhillips was 11-of-14 passing for 230 yards and four touchdowns.

His backup, Thomas Hamilton, was 6-of-7 for 104 yards and two TDs.

Trent Taylor led Baker runners with 94 yards on 10 carries and a touchdown. Ben Baxter added 55 yards and a TD on just four carries.

The Bachman brothers anchored the Baker receivers. Older brother Dane caught four passes for 123 yards and three touchdowns. Younger brother Keaton caught four passes for 70 yards and two scores.

Darren Dolby also caught three passes for 65 yards and a touchdown.

Baker left little doubt about the outcome, scoring 21 points in the first quarter.

Phillips sandwiched scoring passes to Dolby and Dane Bachman around a Taylor rushing TD.

The Bulldogs then added 34 points in the second period.

Phillips found Dane Bachman on three more TD passes. Phillips, Taylor and Baxter added touchdown runs.

With a running clock in the second half, Hamilton connected twice with Keaton Bachman to complete Baker’s scoring.

As GOL champion, Baker now has a week off before opening the first round of the Class 4A playoffs at home either Nov. 9 or 10 against an opponent yet to be determined.
