Bulldogs win Baker Invitational

Medalist Derek Riggs shot a one-over-par 69 to lead Baker to a convincing win at the Baker Invitational boys golf tournament Wednesday at the Baker City Golf Club. The Bulldogs shot an 18-hole total of 300 to outdistance the Pendleton JV by 40 strokes.

The other Baker varsity scores were Jack Sackos with 73, Greg McLean 76, Chad Smith 82 and Kyle Bratcher 90.

The Baker JV team finished seventh with a score of 360. Individually, the JV Bulldogs scores were Cody Givens 85, Kevin Lane 89, Cody Mitchell 91, Kyle Roden 95, Doug Hofmann 98, and Joe Schmeits 100.

The other team scores were Pendleton JV 340, Hermiston 343, La Grande JV 348, Vale 356, Mac-Hi 357, Ontario JV 362, and Grant Union incomplete.

Next action for the Bulldogs, both boys and girls, is the district tournament Monday and Tuesday at Wildhorse Country Club at Mission. Play begins Monday at 8 a.m.
