Dixon wins 1A high jump title

MONMOUTH — Powder Valley’s Trenton Dixon won the boys high jump championship Saturday at the Class 1A state track and field meet at Western Oregon University. Dixon, a sophomore, jumped 6 feet, 3 inches to claim the crown. Dixon also placed sixth in the boys long jump with a leap of 19 feet, 9.25 inches. Powder’s Kate Jones placed fifth in the girls 100 hurdles (17.51) and sixth in the girls 300 hurdles (53.07). Pine-Eagle’s Blake Huff was eighth in the boys 1,500 with a time of 4:25.97. Huntington’s Tonya Broam finished eighth in the girls shot with a throw of 32 feet, 6.5 inches. The Locos’ Auden Ostvik was 21st in the boys 100 (12.23). Powder Valley finished 17th in the boys team standings (13 points) and Pine-Eagle 35th (1 point). Powder Valley was 21st in the girls team standings (7 points) and Huntington 36th (1 point). |
