East wins Shrine game, 17-13

The East built a 10-0 halftime lead, then held the West off in the second half Saturday to win the 57th annual East-West Shrine All-Star Football Game 17-13 at Bulldog Memorial Stadium in Baker City.

The East scored its 10 first-half points on a safety and a 69-yard pass from Kacey Clemens to Dallen Davies. Nein Lewis added the two-point conversion run.

In the second half, the West cut the deficit to 10-7 when Andrew Allen scored on a 2-yard run and Kyle Kuhnhauser added the PAT kick.

The East answered when Mark Moore found Lewis on a 5-yard TD pass with 1:03 left in the third period. Lance Tausaga added the PAT kick.

The West scored its final touchdown with 9:41 left in the game on a 2-yard run by Kelly Maguire.

The West had one final chance to pull out the win, but Nick West, who became a Shriner before the game, intercepted Maguire at the East 26. The East then ran the clock out.

The East finished with 304 total yards, the West 217.
