Icy shooting sinks Baker girls
By Gerry Steele
A cold-shooting problem that has plagued the Baker girls basketball team reared its ugly head again Friday at Fruitland.
The Bulldogs shot just 13 percent (5-of-39) from the field, losing the nonleague game to Fruitland 41-22.
“It was pretty bad,” said Baker coach Jenny Mowe-Joseph.
“I don’t think we’d seen that sort of defensive pressure. We played pretty scared the first three quarters.”
Baker scored just 10 points in the first three quarters, then tallied 12 in the final eight minutes.
“We put together a nice fourth quarter,” Mowe-Joseph said.
The Bulldogs also committed 24 turnovers to go with their icy shooting.
Allie Brown led the Bulldogs with eight points. Brie Sand added five, Whitney Lemmon three, Emily Tatlock one and Michelle Freese one.
Baker hosts Union in another nonleague game Tuesday.
