Imbler boys take third

Imbler built a large first-half lead and went on to defeat Cove 47-32 in the third-place game at the District 7-1A boys basketball tournament Saturday.

Imbler travels to Triad Wednesday in the first round of the Class 1A state playoffs.

Saturday, Imbler jumped to an 11-4 lead after one period. Dalton McDaniel had six of those points.

Eight different Panthers then scored two points each in the second quarter as Imbler went on to build a 26-13 halftime lead.

McDaniel led the Panthers with  14 points.

Jered Witty and Scott DelCurto each scored 11 points for Cove.
