Local players named to Shrine team

PRINEVILLE — Two members of the Class 4A state-champion Baker Bulldogs, and a Pine-Eagle Spartan have been selected to play in the 59th annual East-West Shrine All-Star Football Game July 30 at Bulldog Memorial Stadium.

Baker’s Jesse Brown and Stephen Talbot, and Pine-Eagle’s Kyle Dennis were selected last month at a meeting in Prineville.

Baker’s Joe Black and Jesse Brown of Powder Valley were selected as East alternates.

East coaches are co-head coaches Shane Hedrick (Central) and Greg Grant (Heppner), David Hawley (Vale) and Todd Shirley (Cove).

West head coach is Jon Wolf of Gladstone. Assistants are Brice Ingram (Sheridan), Bill Crowson (Monroe) and Bill Shaw (Elkton).

The game will kick off at 12:30 p.m. and be broadcast on Fox Sports Northwest.
