McKenzie girls place fourth

McKenzie broke away from a 29-29 tie with 1:53 left in the third quarter Saturday morning to edge Country Christian 55-45 in the fourth-place game at the Class 1A state girls basketball tournament at Baker High School.

The Eagles scored the final eight points of the quarter to take a 37-29 lead at the break. Karissa Harbick scored six points, and Brittany Anderson two.

Country Christian cut the deficit to two points, 39-37, with 5:20 left in the game. Then, McKenzie pulled away again.

Harbick led McKenzie with 21 points and 12 rebounds. Anderson added 15 points, and Taya Harbick 10 points.

Hannah McFarland led Country Christian with 17 pounds. Ashley Axmaker and Heather Cunningham each had 10 rebounds.
