Danny O'Neal, a Baker High School junior, has been selected as a member of the U.S. National J2 ski team.

O'Neal will compete at the U.S. National J2 Championships March 5-12 at Mammoth Mountain, Calif.

O'Neal said he would compete in slalom, giant slalom, Super G and downhill.

"This was one of my goals for the season," O'Neal said Saturday while attending Baker's boys basketball playoff game.

O'Neal is competing during winter term for a team in Washington and comes to Baker City only during breaks.

"They gave me this weekend off to rest after findging out I was selected," he said.

"They took the top 20 kids in the western region. I was the only one taken from the PNSA region."

PNSA is Pacific Northwest Ski Association.
