Powder Valley moved a step closer to the championship game of the OSAA-U.S. Bank Class 1A boys state basketball tournament Wednesday.

The Badgers, 23-1, rolled past Ione 83-64 in the opening round of the tournament at Baker High School.

Powder Valley plays Days Creek in the championship semifinals Friday at 3 p.m. Ione played Blanchet in the consolation semifinals this morning.

Against Ione, Powder Valley used its full court pressure to convert several steals into easy baskets in the first quarter.
