Powder girls sweep two

HELIX — Powder Valley swept a pair of nonleague  girls basketball games at the Helix tournament Wednesday and Thursday.

The Badgers defeated Klickitat, Wash., 48-39 Wednesday, and Walla Walla Valley Academy 42-29 Thursday.


Powder Valley 48, Klickitat 39

Powder jumped out to an 18-7 lead after one period and never looked back.

“We jumped out big and controlled the game,” said Badgers coach Allen Bingham.

Alexandra Colton led Powder Valley with 27 points.

The Badgers again got off to a quick start, then worked on their game.

“We did a lot better on some of the new things we’ve been working on,” Bingham said.

“We had a couple of stretches where we stumbled, but they were short stretches.”

Jessica Pedro led the Badgers with 17 points. Ali Abrego and Colton each added 11.
