Powder trio heads to state

Powder Valley will send a trio of athletes to the Class 1A state track and field meet next weekend at Western Oregon University at Monmouth.

Ali Abrego, Colton Eubanks and Amy Eubanks will represent the Badgers at the state meet after placing first or second in their events at Saturday’s District 4-1A meet at Baker High School.

Abrego heads to state as the district champion in the girls high jump. Abrego won the event with a leap of 5 feet.

Colton Eubanks advances in the 100 and 200. Eubanks is  the district champion in the 200 with a time of 23.22. He is the district runnerup in the 100 with an 11.51 clocking.

Amy Eubanks heads to state as the district runnerup in both the 100 hurdles (17.62) and 300 hurdles (54.52).

The Class 1A state meet will be Friday and Saturday at WOU.

Gates open each day at 9 a.m. Field and running events begin at 11 a.. Friday. Field events start at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, and running events at 1 p.m.

Spectator admission is $10 adults and $5 students. A two-day pass also is available for $20 adults and $10 students.
