SHRINERS: Wayne Lewis named to board of governors

Wayne Lewis, past president of the Baker Shrine Club, and past chairman of the East-West Shrine Football Game, has been appointed to the Board of Governors of the Portland Shrine Hospital.

Lewis became a Shriner in 1998. Lewis started his association with the East-West game as the parade chairman. He then spent two years as second vice-chairman, two as first vice-chairman, and two years as chairman. He also served as co-chair with Rick Bobier of Oxbow for the 50th anniversary of the game in 2002.

"This is a labor of love for me," Lewis said. "A labor of love for my community, and love of the game. And, a labor of love to see what it really does to promote the Shrine hospital."

The Board of Governors is responsible for the management and operation of the hospital including approval of applicants (after medical acceptance), for medical treatment at the hospital, its outpatient department and outside clinics.
