HALFWAY — The 2009-10 boys high school basketball season at Pine-Eagle will definitely be a rebuilding season. Coach Jeremiah Sprague has just 11 boys out for the program, including just two seniors. “It’s going to be a challenging year,” he said. The two seniors, and the only players with varsity experience, are Jake Traw and Justice Walker. “Jake is our main guy, our quarterback,” Sprague said. “Those two guys have their leadership job cut out for them.” Sprague said half of his roster consists of freshmen. “We didn’t have a junior varsity schedule last year because we didn’t have enough players. It’s the same thing this season,” Sprague said. “I’m just trying to get the kids up to speed as quickly as possible. It could be very interesting. “I’ve never had this kind of situation at the varsity level before,” the Spartans coach said. “I’ll just try to teach them as much as I can and try to have some fun along the way. My goal is to just progress.” |
