Talbott is GOL softball top player

Led by co-Greater Oregon League player of the year Tara Talbott, Baker placed 11 players on the GOL all-league softball teams this past week.

Talbott joined La Grande’s Boo Chrisman as GOL players of the year. Talbott leads Baker with a .493 batting average, 10 home runs and 26 RBIs.

The other Bulldogs named to the first team were pitcher Tori Brown (.375 average, 21 RBIs), designated hitter Morgan Johnson (.326, 7 RBIs), infielder Darryn McCauley (.461 average, 32 RBIs), and outfielder Savannah Daly (.218 average, 10 RBIs).

Named to the second team were catcher Rebecca Joseph (.288, 14 RBIs), utility player Jessie Stephens (.297, 9 RBIs), infielder Andrea Wilson (.337, 6 RBIs), and outfielder Ashley Shively.

Receiving honorable mention were pitcher Mackenzie Srack (.159, 2 RBIs) and outfielder Ashley Vela (.158, 5 RBIs).

Baker (16-10 overall), the Greater Oregon League runnerup, travels to Central (18-6) Tuesday for a 3 p.m. game in the second round of the Class 4A state playoffs.

The Panthers are led by pitchers Kayla Auer and Emily Kenyon, catcher Amanda Cole and Amanda McLean. McLean set a school record with 39 runs scored this season.
