Fresh off winning the Greater Oregon League championship, the Baker High School volleyball teams began grooming the next wave of Baker players Friday afternoon. The Baker coaches and players welcomed more than 35 third through eighth graders to the Bulldog Volleyball Camp Friday and Saturday in the BHS gym. “This is a volleyball camp for the player that wants to improve while having fun,” said Baker coach Michele McCauley in the camp flier. Friday’s session centered on learning volleyball skills through drills, games and conditioning activities. The older campers worked in the big gym under the eye of McCauley, JV coach Suzy Cole and the Baker varsity and JV players. The younger campers moved to the small gym under the watchful eye of frosh/soph coach Jenny Mowe-Joseph and her players. The first day of camp ended with a series of small matches allowing the campers to utilize the skills they had learned. Then, Saturday, the campers competed in a mini tournament. |
