Tri-Valley stops Spartan spikers

The Tri-Valley Titans edged Pine-Eagle 25-11, 21-25, 25-8, 25-23 in a non-league volleyall match Friday at Halfway.

Pine-Eagle coach Cindy Plano said Pine-Eagle had to adjust its lineup with middle hitter Kaylee Holmstead gone to a family wedding.

“Ce ‘Aira Marks filled the position, which she plaayed in past years, and had 100 percent efficiency on her serving,” Plano said.

Marks added four kills, two solo blocks and a block assist.

Alicia Marlow led the Spartan offense with 13 kills and two solo blocks. McKenzie Bell added seven kills.

Plano said libero Ashley Butler played an outstanding match.

“She is quick and hustles to dig up everything,” the Spartans coach said.

Randee Koski added 22 assists.

Pine-Eagle opened the match flat and Tri-Valley served four aces.

“We finally picked up some momentum that we carried into set two, pulling out the win,” Plano said.

“In set three we lost our defensive focus and the Titan hitters found the floor to rack up several kills on us. We started putting our game together as we continued playing in set four, but it was just too little, too late.”

Pine-Eagle won the JV match 25-23, 25-23. Shelbi Thompson and Randi Coon served well to lead the Spartans. Each had three ace serves.

Maddie Thatcher had three kills and six assists, Justne Pallan and Coon two kills each. Devri McNeal added six digs.

Pine-Eagle travels to Garden Valley, Idaho, Friday.
