Two Haines riders qualify for state rodeo finals

PRINEVILLE — Two Haines cowboys have qualified for the State Finals Rodeo June 16-19 at Crook County Arena. Taylor Kerns will compete in team roping with Will Hulden of Union. Mike McGinn will compete in steer wrestling at the State Finals. Kerns and McGinn join four members of the Baker High School Rodeo Club who also qualified for state: Dylan Glock, Johnny Owens, Nick Xeros and Wyatt Cook.The BHS club is not an official school athletic team, and some local riders choose to compete as individuals. The cutting competition at Prineville starts at 10 a.m. on June 16. The cutting finals start at 9 a.m. on June 17. The first go is at 6 p.m. on June 17, followed by the second go at 6 p.m. on June 18 and the short go at noon on June 19. |
