Watching your rocket blast off and go out of sight was a thrill for students and adults from North Baker School at the end of their 2001 school year. The good news is most families provide foundations for smiles like these. Unfortunately, some Baker County children face neglect and abuse at home at more than twice the state average, according to a recent report. Human services officials say the use of methamphetamine by many Baker County adults may be driving the problem. Baker County rates third of 36 in the state for rates of child abuse and neglect.
