Baker Citys new National Guard Armory could take on a campus-like appearance as officials try to blend the project with other proposals. Still on the table are offers to lease space to Blue Mountain Community College; an Economic Development Administration grant to pay for landscaping and D Street improvements; and a commitment from the federal government to make the Pacific Northwest Law Enforcement Training Center a reality. At present, Baker County is an export training site for the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Georgia. Baker County officials traveled to Washington, D.C., last week to lobby for funding to build a permanent home for law enforcement training in Baker County. (Artwork courtesy Baker County).
