NORTH POWDER Derek Czaplewsi and Tory Seiter of Missoula Childrens Theater held auditions April 9 for 50 student parts in a productions of Treasure Island.
By Thursday, the performance opened to the public for an exclusive, one-day-only performance.
This was the theaters second visit to North Powder, funded by the North Powder Parent-Teacher Community Organization.
Our community is isolated, reads PTCO literature that accompanied the program for the performance. Our children dont often get the same opportunities that children in other areas get to participate in arts-related activities.
Based in Missoula, Mont., the childrens theater was founded in 1970. This year alone, the project will involved over 48,000 school children as performers. Actor/directors from the theater will visit over 100 communities in 50 states, four Canadian provinces and 10 countries outside the United States.
