Local 4-Hers to compete at state shooting competition

Five members of the Patriots, a local 4-H shooting sports team, have qualified for the state competition scheduled for Wednesday through Friday in Albany.

This is the second year the Patriots have fielded a team.

The event includes both archery and shotgun events. This is the first year the Patriots have competed in shotgun.

Four members of the Baker County team qualified in both events:

andbull; Hannah Myers, 15. She was the reserve champion in archery at the state competition last year.

andbull; Nicholas Barnes, 13

andbull; Sam Black, 13

andbull; Michaela Tholen, 14

Orrin Black, 15, will compete in the archery event.

The team leader is Toni Myers. Assistants are Donnie Tholen and Jack Myers.
