To the editor:

Last Thursday, Oregon Business Magazine executives, accompanied by business leaders and representatives of the Port of Portland, Senator Wyden's office and the Governor's office, visited Baker City to spend a day in our town. They came to see who we are and were we are going as a community to assess our commitment to maintaining and developing a vibrant business economy.

Baker Visitors and Chamber, the City, educators, artists, our carriage driver, the media, the Geiser Grand and many volunteers worked together to host our guests and to show them what's special about Baker City.

The dinner program, presented by Vice Mayor Andrew Bryan, ended with an open-mike forum where our mayor, business leaders and residents spoke from their hearts about their affection for our city. Our guests heaped praise on where our town is heading with community and economic development, while remaining true to our historic roots. andquot; Most communities are attempting to create a downtown that works. . . you already have one, andquot; they told the 60 dinner attendees.

This event displayed that working together for the greater good of our town can have significant and enduring results in projecting our positive image.
