To the editor:
It is so easy to be critical of our local government and overlook the positive effects on our daily life. One of these is the maintenance and upkeep of the park. We are so fortunate to have the Geiser Pollman Park as one of the cornerstones of our community. This summer the park has seen a few changes implemented by the city that increase its appeal.
Permanent picnic tables have been installed and a lovely flower garden planted on the corner of Campbell and Grove. A doggie bag station helps cut down on the presence of unwanted deposits in the grass. As one of the managers of the Farmers Market, which is held in the park, I really appreciate the care that has gone in to the maintenance and upkeep. The city has been very supportive of our operation and several employees, especially Don Fink and Tiny, have gone out of their way to ensure everything has been working as it should (even showing up on their day off). Thanks to all who work to make our park and city so livable.
By the way the Baker City Farmers Market runs for two more weeks this year. We will have fresh produce and more on Oct. 6 and 13 from 10 a.m. to noon.
