SIBC is readywith resources

To the editor:

I am writing regarding andquot;Domestic violence is a work issue, andquot; by Dan Gardner from the Oct. 24 paper.

Soroptimist International recognizes that domestic violence in the workplace is a very real issue and has been working for a number of years to bring about awareness and solutions to employers and employees worldwide.

Soroptimist International of Baker County (SIBC) implemented a program one year ago addressing this issue locally by talking to local employers and providing resource packets to adopt a domestic violence workplace policy. We received positive feedback from both employers and employees, some of whom already experienced domestic violence in their workplace.

Locally, along with MayDay, SIBC can help any employer adopt a workplace policy to help protect themselves and their employees. MayDay has packets available or you can contact Christina at 523-9322 to find out more about SIBC's Workplace Campaign to End Domestic Violence.
