Letter to the Editor for Oct. 13, 2010

What have you done, Sen. Wyden?

To the editor:

I've been watching Ron Wyden's campaign ads on TV where he's touting what he's voted against and some of his other accomplishments. I wonder why he isn't bringing up what he voted for, such as government-run health care, the stimulus packages, and that he probably put his stamp of approval on cap-and-trade.

If I were him, I'd think he would be shouting this from the tallest buildings, as they were some of the Democrats' proudest moments and really big ticket items. What accomplishments. Come to think of it, I haven't heard any of the Democrats running touting any of this. I wonder what the problem is.

Ethanol leads to fires

To the editor:

Attention all drivers: ethanol may be hazardous to your health. Seems that no one wants 10 percent ethanol in our gas, but we all get it anyway. A word to the wise: check all rubber fuel lines and plastic fuel filters on or near your engine.

There have been and will be fires in motor compartments from leaks that occur in these hoses. This is not to be taken lightly, and high-grade fuel injector lines are the best replacement. Ask around or talk to your mechanic. This is a real problem in older cars and trucks and an inexpensive precaution before it's your engine on fire.
