Both Baker all-star softball teams remained in contention at division tournaments today.
The Baker senior girls softball all-stars roll through post season continued Sunday when they edged Alaska 3-2 inthe opening round of the Division I tournament at Great Falls, Mont.
Baker trailed 2-0 entering the top of the seventh inning, but scored three runs to take a 3-2 lead. Julie Lovisone then worked her way out of a jam in the bottom of the seventh to preserve the win.
Baker plays Montana, a 4-3 come-from-behind winner over Washington Sunday, today at 1 p.m. PDT in the championship semifinals.
If Baker wins this afternoon it would advance to the tournament championship game Wednesday at 9 a.m. PDT. If Baker loses today, it will play the winner of todays Washington-Alaska consolation game Tuesday at 4 p.m. PDT.
The Baker junior girls softball all-star team is hoping that history repeats itself.
Forced into the loser's bracket with a 9-2 loss to Alaska Saturday in Mt. Vernon, Wash., the locals rallied to thump Idaho Sunday, 18-2, setting up their second straight elimination contest today.
It is through the losers bracket, recall, that the team became state champions last week.
Baker was set to face Great Falls, Mont., this evening at 5 p.m. The loser will come home, while the winner faces the loser of the Alaska-Washington contest, also set for today.
