Baker spotted Nyssa an early touchdown then rolled to a 33-6 victory in

a non-league football at Bulldog Memorial Stadium Friday evening.

Nyssa's Kyle Schoorl raced 77 yards two minutes into the game for a

score that gave Nyssa a 6-0 lead. That score stood until early in the

second quarter.

"The boys did some great things," said Baker coach Dave Johnson.

"They played very well defensively with the exception of the first five minutes."

As they did in the first two games, penalties again hurt the Bulldogs

early. Baker was assessed 50 yards in penalties in the first half

"The kids are anxious," Johnson said. "We just have to stay focused."

Baker took the lead for good three plays into the second period. Steven

Talbot did the honors, scoring on a 2-yard run. Jordan Harlow's

conversion kick gave Baker a 7-6 lead.

It took the Bulldogs just two plays to score again, this time by the defense.

Rowdy LaMiller intercepted a Nyssa pass and scooted 30 yards for a touchdown. Harlow's boot gave Baker a 14-6 cushion.

Baker got the ball back three plays later when Walker Kaseberg intercepted another Nyssa aerial giving Baker the ball at the Nyssa 39.

"Rowdie got a great break on the ball, and Walker read the ball nicely," Johnson said.

Chad Adams later gave Baker a 21-6 edge with a 15-yard scoring run after receiving a pitch from Harlow.

The Bulldogs completed the first-half scoring on the final play of the period when Harlow found Trace Richardson on a 1-yard scoring pass giving Baker a 27-6 halftime advantage.

Baker completed the scoring on the opening drive of the second half. Again it was Talbot taking the ball in from a yard out.

"Offensively, we had a nice balanced attack," Johnson said. "We ran well for the most part. Jordan did an exceptional job throwing the ball, calling the plays and running the offense. And, our offensive line did a marvelous job protecting Jordan."

Johnson was happy with the final results Friday.

"We're pleased with where we're at," he said. "We have some things to work on, but I was really pleased with the way we responded to a little glitch in the first quarter."

Baker (2-1) travels to Vale for another non-league contest Friday at 6 p.m. PDT.

"The kids are excited about going to Vale. They're anxious for the test," Johnson said.

"It will be a big game for us. It's time for us to play our best game of the year," Johnson said.
