LA GRANDE - Baker lost a Greater Oregon League volleyball match at La Grande Thursday.
The scores were 25-22, 23-25, 25-15, 22-25, 11-15.
"Tara Talbott had a great game tonight, and Whitney Phillips also had a strong game," Bulldogs coach Marcy Hayes said.
Talbott was a perfect 16-for-16 serving and finished 36-for-43 hitting
with 17 kills. Phillips was an almost-perfect 54-for-56 setting with 21
assists and went 14-for-15 hitting with 6 kills.
Aly Ogan was 21-for-29 hitting, adding 10 kills.
As they have in some previous matches, Baker was its own worst enemy at times, Hayes said.
"We played pretty tough tonight, but we made too many mental mistakes and had too many unforced errors," she said.
Hayes praised the squad's defensive effort.
"Our defense was great and we were moving well on the floor," she said. "At times out on the court we were playing the best volleball we have all season.
"But there were also times that we struggled. We need to put it all together and we will be a tough team to beat."
Baker has the weekend off, then gets ready to host Fruitland, Idaho, on Thursday.
The freshmen, junior varsity and varsity all play that day. The first match begins at 4 p.m. at the BHS gym.
