Baker came away with four individual championships and the team trophy
from the Eastern Oregon Bank wrestling tournament at Heppner Saturday.
The Bulldogs amassed 185 points to top second-place Riverside by 10
points at the 15-team tournament. Pine-Eagle was eighth with 91 points.
Zach Valentine (103 pounds), Parker Warner (125), Andrew Porter (130) and Andrew Gettle (145) each placed first in their weight division.
Ted Shaw (215) was third, Brandon Zunino (140) fourth, Matt Seal (125) sixth, Lane Zacharias (140) sixth, Bryce Waldron (189) sixth and Jake Shukle (215) sixth.
"We had a good tournament," said Baker coach Dee Gorrell.
"We had some of our regular varsity guys wrestle well and we also had some of our younger kids wrestle strong. Everybody stepped it up. Some of the kids with less varsity experience added several key points for us to get the win."
Baker was tied with Crane going into the championship round.
"We told the kids we needed pins to win," Gorrell said. "They went out and got a lot of them."
Baker returns to Greater Oregon League action Tuesday at 6 p.m. at Mac-Hi.
The Bulldogs then travel to Halfway Saturday for the annual Pine-Eagle Invitational tournament starting at 10 a.m.
